We will spend one full day working with different classes on the theme of movement. Many skills are addressed in an integrated way.

We mix up the classes and start the day with sports and movement. We get to know each other well and build a good bond of trust.

Then we question the pupils’ prior knowledge on the topic of sedentary behaviour and movement. After this we pass on knowledge about the topic and let them think about possible actions in the school. We let the pupils brainstorm in groups about their idea of movement at school. It is guaranteed that the students will come up with proposals that we as teachers have not thought of.

At the end of the day, the ideas are presented to the whole group. Let everyone help decide which proposal is feasible and which proposal we can (possibly) realize.

In this way we have gone through all the steps of the participation model: knowing, thinking along, deciding and participating.
